The Center for Agricultural Profitability at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present Returning to the Farm, a workshop series for families who are in the transition process of bringing members back to the farm or ranch. It will begin with a two-day workshop in York for multi-generational families on Dec. 9 and 10 at the Holthus Convention Center, 3130 Holen Ave. 

The series assists families and agricultural operations with developing financial plans and successful working arrangements to meet their unique needs. It will guide families in developing estate and transition plans, setting personal and professional goals and improving the communication process between family members.

Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Meeting November 30 Lincoln County Fairgrounds

The program for the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s meeting will discuss planning for next year’s grazing season.

Cow-Calf Cost of Production Workshops to be held in the Panhandle

The Cow-Calf Cost of Production Workshops will provide a hands-on learning experience for producers to learn how to calculate a unit cost of production for a cow-calf operation. The two-day workshops will be held on November 29-30 at the 4-H Building in Kimball from 8:30am - 4:00pm and December 6-7 in Arthur at the Fairgrounds from 8:30am - 4:00pm. 

Keeping farm and ranch records up to date is important but can be a complicated task.

Nebraska Extension is offering a “Collect. Balance. Reconcile. File.” workshop in Valentine from 11 a.m. to noon on Nov. 10, at the Cherry County Extension Office, 365 N. Main Street, Suite 3.

This workshop will focus on four steps to prepare books for accountants or make it easier for business managers to do them on their own. Nebraska Extension Educator Jessica Groskopf will discuss collecting the necessary documents, balancing check registers or financial software, reconciling accounts and filing paperwork for agricultural operations.

This workshop is free to attend, but registration is required by Nov. 8. To register, call the Cherry County Extension Office at 402-376-1850.

Nebraska Extension will host a workshop in North Platte on preparing for operating loan renewals that will cover documents that farmers and ranchers should have in place before going into the process. It will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, at the Lincoln-Logan-McPherson Extension Center, 348 W. State Farm Road.
